Found in a Night Forest
The forest must stay out at night,
and cannot run away;
must let the night monsters pass,
chasing whiffs of children.
I let the forest find me.
My fears held me still
and when I was found I could pass too.
Pausing by Merton's Pond,
Fireflies in the grass at my feet
gave me the fairy's welcome.
And, passing on, I could not stay,
I grew in thankfulness for my whiff of childhood,
and for being found.
