I Love to Tell the Story
I love to tell the story. The story changes things.
It challenges the powers, it whispers, thunders, sings!
It births the Holy Presence in moments of surprise;
It heals, empowers, and strengthens, it opens ears and eyes.
I love to tell the story. It is a tale of glory,
because it is God's story of justice, peace, and love.
I yearn to tell the story of God's abiding grace.
They heard it in Christ's message and saw it in his face.
I yearn to tell the story because it's brave and true.
It feeds my deepest hunger as nothing else can do.
I yearn to tell the story, the passion and the glory,
the old transforming story of Jesus and his love.
I yearn to tell the story about the mustard seed,
that starts with small beginnings and spreads out like a weed.
The trees grow up so quickly and birds can find their rest.
Just live within the story and find your place of nest.
I yearn to tell the story, the passion and the glory,
the old transforming story of Jesus and his love.
I yearn to tell the story and answer to God's call,
to share our precious message, to welcome one and all.
I yearn to tell the story of God who welcomed me
to find my path to meaning in sharing ministry.
I yearn to tell the story, the passion and the glory,
the old transforming story of Jesus and his love.
I yearn to tell our story of what our church has meant
to those of us who've gathered, to those who have been sent.
I yearn to tell the story, it's meant so much to me.
It's changed my life's perspectives. It's set my spirit free.
I yearn to tell our story, our small part of the story,
the still transforming story of Jesus and his love.
